Meet Paul
Paul is one of the kindest souls we’ve met, gentle, thoughtful, and always ready with a smile. He is an older man from California and one of Sully’s closest and longest friends. Their bond is strong, built over years of walking side by side through hardship and hope.
Paul has shared pieces of his life with us: stories about his family, memories from his childhood, and the lessons his grandmother taught him about faith and integrity. He often talks to Marisol about God, weaving small moments of wisdom and spirituality into every conversation. There is something calming about him, a softness in the way he speaks and a sincerity that makes you want to listen.
He is incredibly open and warm. Paul never hesitates to take pictures with us, share stories, record small videos, or pray together. He enjoys connection, and he offers it freely.
We once spoke with Paul about the possibility of leaving the streets. His answer was honest and emotional, just like him. He said no. Not because he doesn’t have options, but because the community he has built here is his family now. These are the people who know him, love him, and stand by him. He still visits his biological family from time to time, and those moments mean a lot to him, often bringing tears to his eyes. But his heart belongs to the community he’s found, people who support each other, protect each other, and share life in the only way they can.
Paul and Sully are a team. They encourage one another, hold each other accountable, and remind each other that goodness still exists. When they see others doing simple, kind actions handing out food, offering prayer, stopping to talk. It makes them feel alive again. It reminds them they are still God’s sons, deeply loved and never forgotten.
Paul is a beautiful soul, full of warmth, resilience, and quiet strength. We are grateful to know him and humbled to call him our friend.
On your left, meet Paul.
